Astrology FAQs
What is astrology and how does it work? Astrology is more or less the study of planetary movements and how people are affected by and react to those movements based on their energetic makeup determined at birth. Science proves that cosmic bodies impact events on Earth (e.g. the Moon influencing the tides). Astrology works to make sense of planetary movements and reactions to these movements on a personal level. By having a better understanding of your underlying energetic makeup, you can use astrology as a tool for understanding yourself, using your talents, making decisions, planning events, and living to your fullest potential. |
What is a natal chart?
A natal chart or birth chart, also known as a horoscope, is a diagram that represents the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets (as well as other planetary bodies) and their relationships to one another at specific mathematical angles at your exact moment of birth. In astrology, the Sun, Moon, and the planets all embody a specific meaning or energy pattern and can be interpreted by studying the natal chart. Your natal chart is a cosmic representation of what makes you you!
The chart appears as a wheel of 360° divided into 12 houses of 30° each – one house for each sign of the zodiac. The houses represent specific areas of life, and the planets, including the Sun and Moon, all reside within these houses depending on the time, date, and location of your birth.
Thus, by examining the meanings of the planets, their locations in your natal chart, and how they interact with one another mathematically, I can analyze your specific energy patterns. Your inherent energy patterns can then be applied to other chart interpretation and movement techniques, including the planets' real-time movement, known as transits, which can help you make sense of current events or things that you might expect to occur in the future.
Each person’s natal chart is entirely unique based on the exact time, date and location at which the person was born. Essentially, the natal chart is a snap shot or blueprint of your planetary energies that existed at the exact moment of your birth, and therefore become part of your energetic makeup. Understanding more about your natal chart is a very powerful tool that can provide insight and inspiration.

What information is needed to look at my natal chart?
The exact time, date and location of your birth are necessary in order to examine your natal chart. Because the horoscope can change as frequently as every two minutes due to planetary movement, exact information is imperative and estimations will not result in an accurate chart. If you don't have the exact time of your birth, please contact me so that we can discuss the best way to move forward with your reading.

Tarot FAQs
How does a tarot reading with Julie work?
It is important to understand that each reader will have their own individual approach to the cards, and while the cards embody archetypal meanings, the style and delivery of tarot readings will vary from reader to reader.
My approach is simple: in our purest and most basic form, we are all made of energy. Atoms consist of protons, neutrons, and electrons which are constantly moving and creating force and power. This force and power is manifested in the physical realm through movement, breath, thought and touch. By interacting with a tarot deck, either physically or mentally, you infuse your energy into the cards, which are then laid out in a particular spread. The combination of your energy and intention, the cards that are chosen, and their placement in the spread serves to interpret your inner energy in the present moment. When we acknowledge that energy has power that is manifested from within, tarot readings can become a compelling tool for guidance, grounding, and self-inquiry.
The tarot deck is not a predictive tool in the sense that it does not necessarily tell time or forecast specific events or situations. Instead, a tarot reading is an interpretation of the personal energy within. Sometimes, a reading will point out things that clearly resonate with you, while other times the reading points toward areas in your life that you are neglecting or should invest more focus. Thus, tarot cards and the archetypes they represent are neither good nor bad, but offer an objective reflection of the self.
How long does a reading last?
The length of a reading typically depends on the number of cards used. Logically, the more cards used in a reading, the longer the reading will last. The exact duration of a reading will vary, but rest assured that I focus on quality over quantity!

How often should I have my cards read?
I recommend regular readings as frequently as every 2 weeks to tap into and evaluate the energy within. Regular readings can promote self-awareness, increase self-esteem, and provide personal direction.

What are tarot cards?
Tarot cards have been around since the 14th century and can be used in a variety of ways. In my practice, I use them as a tool for self-inquiry. A tarot deck typically consists of 78 cards, each card visually representing a concept or archetype related to the human experience. The deck is divided into two types of cards: the major and minor arcana. The major arcana make up 22 cards of the full deck and represent the highest expression of the concept or archetype they embody. The minor arcana make up the remaining 56 cards and are composed of suit cards (swords, wands, cups and pentacles) and court cards (King, Queen, Knight and Page). Each suit has 14 cards: 10 numbered cards and 4 court cards. The minor arcana cards represent more of the day to day aspects of our thoughts, actions, feelings and belongings. |
