Astrology for October 1st-15th, 2017

10/1/2017

On Sunday, October 1st, Mars in Virgo makes a trine with Pluto in Capricorn at 7:36pm EST, turning ambition on high now that Pluto is direct. Mars in Virgo is inclined to act with more tact and politeness than usual, and when positively matched with Pluto’s deep internal power, things will get done effectively and efficiently.

On Tuesday, October 3rd, Venus in Virgo is next to form a trine with Pluto in Capricorn, although this is not as pleasant a trine as Sunday’s Mars/Pluto. A Venus/Pluto trine is bound to bring up secrets and hidden insecurities in relationships, which can be destructive if not managed properly. Luckily, a trine aspect has a more positive focus, and if you can overcome any new discoveries in your relationships, no matter how shocking, you stand a very good chance of establishing and/or maintaining deep and meaningful connections.

On Thursday, October 5th, Venus in Virgo meets up with Mars in Virgo at 12:53pm EST for the second time this year. This meetup normally results in sensual and even sexual expression and can be quite charming, but with Venus in Fall in Virgo and Mars acting more prudish than usual, this transit may not be as exciting as we’d hope. Instead of being demanding of your loved ones (usually a hallmark of this conjunction), try doing something nice for others today. After all, Virgo is the sign of servitude and effort. Kind deeds may pay off nicely. A Full Moon at 12°43’ Aries takes place today as well. This is the first Full Moon after the fall equinox, and will illuminate areas in which we need to take action and initiate change.

On Sunday, October 8th, Venus in Virgo squares Saturn in Sagittarius at 8:54am EST. This is the last Venus/Saturn square of the year, and with square aspects there are always challenges. Saturn urges us to take responsibility, which conflicts with Venus’s laissez-faire and laid back nature. Relationship challenges may come to a head today when one partner feels they are “doing more” than the other. The Sun in Libra will meet up with Mercury later in the day at 4:54pm EST, sending a lot of mental energy into the mix, which can cause undue stress or worry. Luckily, Mercury moves fast and is at its farthest point from Earth, helping us to process any relationship woes logically and objectively.

On Sunday, October 9th, the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Libra makes a square with Pluto in Capricorn, sending a tailspin of energy into our mental sphere. Thoughts will likely be deep and potentially confusing. This tri-planet aspect will urge you to question what is important and whether or not you are on the right path toward achieving it.

On Tuesday, October 10th, Jupiter enters Scorpio after spending the last 13 months in Libra. Jupiter is the planet of wisdom and knowledge seeking (vs. fact-seeking, which belongs to Mercury), and Scorpio is the sign of investigation and vicarious experience. Life’s deeper mysteries will be at question, and humanitarian issues likely on the rise with this sign change for Jupiter. Anyone whose chart is heavily Scorpio influenced will fare well with Jupiter, the greater benefic of the zodiac, in their corner. Happy investigating!

On Wednesday, October 11th, Mars in Virgo squares off with Saturn in Sagittarius at 9:37am EST, challenging leadership issues. These two planets last met in a square in January, which had the masses on high alert. Everyone will feel entitled and that they are right today, which is likely to cause a lot of conflict and frustration overall. This aspect has us feeling like our way is not just the best way, but the only way to climb to the top. Stay open minded today and try not to be a know-it-all if you don’t want to engage in the chaos.

On Saturday, October 14th, Venus enters Libra at 6:11am EST, where it is in rulership and the most pure in its expression. While we may feel more optimistic, attractive, and socially engaged with Venus in Libra, there is also the chance to sugar coat those aspects of your life that you don’t want others judging or questioning. Make note of this as you move through the course of Venus’s 4 week stay in its home of homes.

On Sunday, October 15th, Mercury in Libra opposes Uranus rx in Aries, sending high frequency vibes straight to our central nervous centers. You may feel like you have information overload today and can’t keep things straight, which makes sense given that Mercury is the fastest moving planet in the zodiac and Uranus is known for its erratic nature. Take this transit in stride, as its energy will pass over the course of two days. Make not of any universal downloads that may come to you, and keep track of them by writing them down, lest you forget the message before you have a chance.

Astrology for the Week of September 24th, 2017

Mars in Virgo opposes Neptune rx in Pisces on Sunday, September 24th at 3:49pm EST. This opposition will reveal areas where we may feel taken advantage of or uncertain, and will act as a mirror for any deceptions taking place. With Mars in Virgo, you may feel inclined to handle things on a more practical base than feeling tempted to react (or overreact).

Merucry in Virgo will square Saturn in Sagittarius at 10:36am EST on Monday, September 25th. Serious expertise and mastery come along with this transit, but it can be a tough one due to Saturn’s dry and calculating nature, which can put the kibosh on Mercury’s usual quick and fun demeanor. Today would be a great day for getting organized, putting information to work, and holding yourself accountable for the things you’ve said.

Jupiter in Libra opposes Uranus rx in Aries on Thursday, September 28th at 12:25am (September 27th PST), encouraging us to honor our unique selves and to forge our own path. These two planets last met in April when Jupiter was also retrograde, so now that Jupiter is direct, this concept may seem easier to achieve. This is also a great transit for breaking bad habits and starting something new. Pluto in Capricorn also goes direct today at 3:36pm EST, turning personal power and business savvy on high. While Pluto was retrograde, we had time to plot and plan for future personal and business endeavors, so now is the time to externalize your visions.

Venus in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces on Friday, September 29th at 8:12pm EST. Idealism runs high with this transit, and you may be feeling outgoing, inspired and artistic. This is not the best transit for spending money, so be conservative with finances today, lest you suffer buyer’s remorse. Mercury enters Libra shortly thereafter at 8:42pm EST, one of two upcoming transits that will help facilitate enacting personal and professional goals that Pluto direct has initiated.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Sagittarius at 12:01am EST - Monday, September 25th
  • Moon enters Capricorn at 12:24pm EST - Wednesday, September 27th
  • Moon enters Aquarius at 12:40am EST - Saturday, September 30th

Venus in Leo trines Uranus rx in Aries on Monday, September 18th at 12:27am EST. This trine may have us feeling restless with our usual routines, and is calling for a something new and exciting to take relationships, romance, and finances to the next level. This energy is also conducive for cutting out relationships that don’t serve us in order to seek individual freedom.

Next up this week is Venus’s move from Leo into Virgo on Tuesday, September 19th at 9:15pm EST. Unfortunately, Venus is in detriment in Virgo, as its accepting and embracing nature is no match for Virgo’s dry and to-the-point climate. While this aspect may be good for business due to Virgo’s perfectionist ways, relationship-wise, this aspect can create energy that is extra-critical, worrisome, and overall difficult to please.

Later in the day on the 19th, Mercury in Virgo opposes Neptune rx in Pisces at 11:50pm EST. While the energy of this transit is only felt over the better course of two days, it may have us questioning what we know and what is really true. This is significant, as Mercury will later trine Pluto in Capricorn on Friday, September 22nd at 2:01pm, potentially revealing what seemed unknown just a few days before.

The Sun moves into Libra at 4:02pm EST on Friday, September 22nd. The Sun is in fall here, as Libra, being the opposite sign of Aries which represents the mark of the individual, is more focused on the collective. Libra represents moving away from self-focus and into embracing others and assimilating into a group consciousness. Libra also marks the beginning of the Fall season and the fall equinox in which the hours of day and night are equal.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Virgo at 12:52am EST - Monday, September 18th
  • New Moon in Virgo at 1:30am EST - Wednesday, September 20th
  • Moon enters Libra at 6:06am EST - Wednesday, September 20th
  • Moon enters Scorpio at 1:40pm EST - Friday, September 22nd

A Venus/Saturn trine takes place on Tuesday, September 12th at 8:50pm EST. This is the second time that these planets meet in a trine this year. With Saturn in Sagittarius and Venus in Leo, you may feel motivated to make personal commitments and drastic changes that you’ve maybe been putting off until now. The Sun in Virgo squares Saturn the next day on Thursday, September 13th at 10:58pm EST. Squares typically provide obstacles and challenges, so do not be surprised if your new commitment is immediately challenged—with the Sun in Virgo, results are the bottom line, so do not feel deterred by Saturn’s pressure to step up in a big way.

Venus in Leo forms a sextile with Jupiter in Libra at 3:44pm EST on Friday, September 15th. This aspect spells good times and good vibes, so get out and enjoy it while it lasts.

Mercury in Virgo meets up with Mars on Saturday, September 16th at 3:01pm EST. This is the third time that these planets will meet in a conjunction this year. Since Mercury is in its essential dignity in Virgo, this aspect is less about reacting from our Mars center and more about getting organized, taking care of business, and putting our health first.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Gemini at 3:29pm EST - Monday, September 11th
  • Moon enters Cancer at 6:12pm EST - Wednesday, September 13th
  • Moon enters Leo at 9:09pm EST - Friday, September 15th

Astrology for the Week of August 20th, 2017

8/20/2017

Monday, August 21st marks a total solar eclipse over the U.S. at 28° 53’ Leo at 2:30pm EST. During this total solar eclipse, the Sun will be totally dark for a mere 2 minutes, 40 seconds. Despite this short black out, the influence of a solar eclipse typically lasts the better part of a year. Remember that eclipses manifest in erratic and unpredictable ways, and this eclipse in the later degrees of Leo will be no exception. Because the New Moon is transitioning from the later degrees of Leo and approaching 0° Virgo, its effects may impact not only self-confidence, expression, and leadership abilities, but also our organizational patterns and physical and mental health. Interestingly, the only planet that makes an aspect with the Sun and Moon during the New Moon/Solar Eclipse is Uranus by trine, opening a door for progressive or revolutionary change. Because eclipses occur in pairs, the energies of the partial Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius will precipitate whatever manifests outwardly from the total Solar Eclipse. The best way to be prepared for an eclipse is to learn more about the house and axis it is taking place within your chart, and what aspects it makes to your natal, directed, and progressed planets.

The second trine between Mars in Leo and Saturn rx in Sagittarius takes place on Tuesday, August 22nd at 9:21am EST. When these two planets work together harmoniously, all of the pieces seem to fall together with regard to physical effort and pursuit of long-term goals. Focus should be easy to reign in today, but be aware that results may come only with slow and steady work. The Sun enters Virgo later the same day at 6:20pm EST, adding a burst of efficiency to the mix. Virgo represents our natural inclinations to serve others, gather and analyze data, and master our craft. Virgo is also concerned with purity of function, and for that reason, rules the physical body’s health and well-being. These concepts will be the underlying focus for the next month while the Sun basks in Virgo’s high standards.

Saturn moves direct on Friday, August 25th at 8:08am EST. It is now time to implement the new structures and schemes we’ve had the opportunity to internally create. Saturn rules our sense of responsibility, goal setting, and boundaries and limits. While retrograde, we were encouraged to internally evaluate what regarding these concepts needed to be kept and what needed to be revised or discarded. With a direct turn in Sagittarius, we are now called to go after implementing and acting upon these realizations in an effort to gain additional wisdom and insight about our individual experiences.

Venus transitions into Leo early Saturday morning, August 26th, at 12:30am EST (9:30pm PST on 8/25). In Leo, Venus is drawn to become involved in the more dramatic aspects of relationships, love, and material possessions. You may feel more inclined to indulge in retail therapy or make-up sex after a spat. Venus performs especially well at about 19° Leo where it is in terms, which will take place September 11th, 2017. Later in the day, the Sun meets up with Mercury rx in Virgo at 4:42pm EST. Mercury is in rulership in Virgo, and while retrograde, can often carry insights and recollections from the past or the unconscious. Combined with the Sun in Virgo, we are being called to use information and lessons from the past to perfect our efforts in the present. This is high frequency energy that may even leave you with some butterflies in your stomach today, since Mercury rules the nerves and Virgo reigns over the intestines/lower abdomen.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Leo at 2:30pm EST - Monday, August 21st
  • Moon enters Libra at 9:05pm EST - Wednesday, August 23rd
  • Moon enters Scorpio at 4:53am EST - Saturday, August 26th

Astrology for the Week of July 30th, 2017

Venus enters Cancer on Monday, July 31st at 10:54am EST. This receptive planet and sign combination sends waves of sensitive energy until the end of August. Venus represents our sense of self-esteem, aesthetic standards, sense of affection, social urges, and source of money. When in Cancer, Venus is sensitive, intuitive, sympathetic, security-seeking, and instinctually charming. A skilled Venus in Cancer is nurturing, encouraging, and creative, while an unskilled Venus in Cancer can be defensive, defeatist, and even martyristic. How will you use this energy over the next month?

Uranus in Aries moves retrograde on Thursday, August 3rd at 1:31am EST (10:31pm PST on August 2nd). Uranus is considered the “awakener” of the planets, and when it moves retrograde, we experience internal realizations that shed light on our ways of being. Uranus rx in Aries is asking us to awaken to our natural and instinctive selves, and to exert ourselves in ways that make us stand out as unique from our surroundings. We are also urged to break away from internal constructs and stories that confine us. Uranus will remain retrograde until early January 2018, so we have the remainder of the year to work on liberating ourselves from the constant and limiting tapes that we allow to control us.

Jupiter in Libra squares Pluto rx in Capricorn on Friday, August 4th at 2:48pm EST. This is the second square-off between these two planets this year (they last met on March 30th), which marks major shifts in self-control and personal development, for better or worse. When these two planets last met, Jupiter was retrograde in Libra while Pluto was direct in Capricorn—now the opposite is the case, with Jupiter direct in Libra and Pluto rx in Capricorn. This transit sheds light on where we should exert self-control in order to achieve positive results. If not managed appropriately, this transit can also result in sloppy and domineering behavior. Jupiter is often shy about managing the details of things, while Pluto uses the details to empower. This transit asks you to integrate these energies for the greater good, particularly in our external relationships and business dealings.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Sagittarius at 8:01am EST - Tuesday, August 1st
  • Moon enters Capricorn at 8:37pm EST - Thursday, August 3rd

A New Moon in Leo greets us the morning of Sunday, July 23rd at 5:46am EST. This New Moon is taking place at 0° Leo, a transitional but fixed point in the zodiac. Mars is only 1° away from this New Moon, which will provide a burst of motivation and initiation to this fixed energy. While Mars can add a significant source of inspiration to this New Moon, Mars in Leo can also lean toward impatience, vanity, and selfishness. If you’re using the New Moon to plan for upcoming ventures, know that while you may feel lit up and on fire during this time, don’t burn yourself out or run others ragged with demands. Ego checking is sure to be a main theme of this New Moon phase.

On Monday, July 24th, Venus in Gemini and Saturn rx in Sagittarius find themselves opposite one another at 10:54am EST. Cold and dry Saturn has a serious effect on receptive and sensitive Venus, highlighting areas in our lives in which we might need to work a little harder and rely less on our personal charms in order to get ahead. You may be called to use a larger source of wisdom (Saturn in Sag) to harness Venus’s scattered priorities in Gemini. This transit is telling us to hunker down and get our act together, and this planetary pressure is likely to create great creative output if used skillfully. Later in this day, Mercury in Leo makes a trine to Uranus in Aries at 12:33pm EST, urging us to think creatively and consider avenues that might otherwise not seem appealing.

Mercury enters Virgo on Tuesday, July 25th at 7:41pm EST. Detail- and fact-oriented Mercury is in dignity in Virgo, where is excels at digesting the finer points and small details. Consider Virgo the data analyst and quality control center of the zodiac. This transit sheds a no-nonsense light on information that is presented to us, and we might feel hypercritical or analytical during this time frame. While cold and dry Virgo can sometimes be a buzzkill because it’s so factual and realistic, there is also great possibility to use your factual knowledge creatively and playfully with Mercury in this sign. Mercury will be in Virgo until September, since it will move retrograde in mid-August, thus extending its stay in its domain.

The Sun makes an exact encounter with Mars on Wednesday, July 26th at 8:57pm EST. This is a powerful and fiery conjunction that gives us the self-esteem boost we need to get things done. The next 24 hours is a great period to use your personal strengths to initiate a project, communicate your opinion, and take things by the reins.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Leo at 4:34am EST - Sunday, July 23rd
  • New Moon in Leo at 5:46am EST - Sunday, July 23rd
  • Moon enters Virgo at 6:32am EST - Tuesday, July 25th
  • Moon enters Libra at 11:37am EST - Thursday, July 27th

Monday, July 17th will be an intensely emotional day with two major squares taking place. Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces in the morning at 10:33am EST, which might make us feel a little emotionally vulnerable and confused. This transit can make us take the small things and totally over-analyze or blow them out of proportion. Our sense of values may be called to question, and we might realize that material possessions are not fulfilling us in the way that we expect them to. This square will have us yearning for the meaning of things.

Later in the day on Monday, Mars in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries at 9:27pm EST. These two planets are known for being unpredictable, and when they square off, anything is possible. A word of advice and caution: slow down! This is accident prone energy, so you must proceed with the logical mind and an open heart, and not the reactionary ego. Luckily, this right-brained energy is at our disposal when Mercury in Leo trines Saturn rx in Sagittarius the following day, Wednesday, July 19th, at 3:16pm EST. Logic, reason, and diplomacy are facilitated here, and with Mercury in Leo, our delivery will be impeccable. This is the last of four Mercury/Saturn trines in 2017, so use its energy wisely!

Mars enters Leo on Thursday, July 20th at 8:19am EST where it functions quite well. With Mars in Leo, our competitive and instinctual natures are fired up and we’re full of inspiration and ambition. Mars can really get into itself here, so watch for any demanding or self-absorbed behavior, but otherwise enjoy this energetic recharge. The Sun in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries later today at 8:26pm EST, compounding the frenetic energy and excitement.

On Saturday, July 22nd, the Sun enters Leo at 11:15am EST. The Sun is in rulership in Leo, and our true natures take center stage. This is a transit charged with self-confidence, charm, and vivacity. Ever notice that many Leo personalities are larger than life? This is because the Sun is fully charged in Leo and can’t be stopped from shining bright. Party vibes with the Sun in Leo are high, but Leo can be prone to being pushy to get its way, resulting in upsets or spats. Let a Leo know you love ‘em today—they live for that!

Moon Transits this Week
  • Moon enters Taurus at 1:04am EST - Monday, July 17th
  • Moon enters Gemini at 3:31am EST - Wednesday, July 19th

Pluto in Capricorn takes the stage again this week, this time in opposition to Mars in Cancer on Sunday, July 2nd at 8:02am EST. Pluto’s energy is focused on deep, instinctual, and often painful, emotions that are related to the human experience, like grief, lust, power, protection—the emotions that we must experience in order to be shaped as individuals. Without the experiences that incite these emotions, we would never change, and therefore never evolve. Pluto’s energy is persistent and intense, and when in opposition to Mars, it can put pressure on our reactionary and defensive instincts. Think of Mars as your center of motivation, drive, and personal instinct. When confronted by Pluto, your Mars center will likely want to run or react in a big way because Pluto is notorious for inflicting pain, even if sometimes pain is necessary or even pleasurable. With this transit, you may be inexplicably drawn to things you know are no good for you, or even highly motivated to make serious changes to related to your behavior. Either way, with Mars in Cancer, expect to feel it to the core.

On Tuesday the 4th, Venus enters Gemini at 8:11pm. With physically focused Venus entering mentally-focused Gemini, flirting and personal expression, both verbally and aesthetically, will feel very easy over the next six weeks. Mercury in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries today as well at 8:51pm EST, which may make communication efforts impulsive and exciting if approached with some tact. Use these two transits to your benefit, particularly if you have some convincing or impressing to do.

Mercury moves into outgoing and gregarious Leo at 8:20pm EST. Mercury can really play the game in Leo and loves to take center stage. This energy will have us feeling confident and articulate, not to mention funny and charming. Shortly thereafter, the Sun makes a trine to Neptune in Pisces at 8:46pm EST and then a square to Jupiter in Libra at 10:44pm EST. This combination can result in feeling super inspired or super indulgent—perhaps both. Neptune embodies our spirituality and sense of the unknown, but sometimes with its energy we become lost instead of found. Jupiter always wants to do things bigger and better, so just make sure that your path is truly illuminated when these energies are at play.

The Full Moon in Capricorn on Sunday the 9th at 12:07am EST (Saturday July 8th for the west coast) illuminates areas where we need to cut the crap and get down to business. Not ironically, Pluto is conjunct the Moon today and at its side, urging us to dig into our emotional stores to see where we can learn and grow. With Capricorn, and therefore Saturn at the helm of this Full Moon, eyes should be on the prize. The Moon is in detriment in Capricorn, so it lacks sensitivity and empathy that it would usually have, which is exactly what this transit needs. As the Moon wanes, you may feel yourself dropping the dead weight.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Scorpio at 12:59pm EST — Sunday, July 2nd
  • Moon enters Sagittarius at 1:08am EST — Wednesday, July 5th
  • Moon enters Capricorn at 1:45pm EST — Friday, July 7th
  • Full Moon in Capricorn at 12:07am EST — Sunday, July 9th

Astrology for the Week of June 18th, 2017

On Sunday, June 18th, Mercury in Gemini opposes Saturn rx in Sagittarius at 3:07pm EST. Decision making will be key over the next two days or so, and Saturn is demanding that you choose wisely. Don’t sweat this transit too much, since Mercury in Gemini is well-armed with facts and opinions, but it’s possible you might feel pigeonholed into having to choose between options you don’t like. The energy from this transit can be used to get things organized and grab ahold of your ambition, just be discerning about where you place your mental energy.

The Sun enters Cancer on Wednesday, June 21st at 12:24am EST. The Sun’s movement into cardinal Cancer marks the summer solstice in which the Sun is at its highest peak and will continue to decline until it enters Capricorn for the winter solstice in December. In Cancer, the Sun sheds light on our emotional well-being, home, and family life. It embodies the feminine divine that we all have, and it rules our intuitive sensing. Over the next month or so, you may feel emphasis that the Sun has in these aspects of your life depending on where Cancer falls in your natal chart.

Mercury is not too far behind the Sun, and changes from Gemini to Cancer shortly thereafter at 5:57am EST. Mercury is out of bounds at this point, high above the Sun’s orbit. In Gemini, it is able to look out objectively, but as it transitions into Cancer and embarks on its descent closer to the Sun’s orbit, communications become more instinctual and intuitive with a sense of urgency to get things done. Your gut responses may feel strong following this change of sign, so know that they are in tune with your inner energy.

A Full Moon in Cancer takes place Friday, June 23rd at 10:31pm EST. The Moon is the ruler of Cancer and therefore is in essential dignity. During this Full Moon phase, it is able to function to the best of its abilities. The Full Moon in Cancer instinctually sends us back to our home or a place where we feel secure and comforted. Those who are Cancer or water dominant may feel great pleasure in being a homebody and sprucing up their personal space. Emotional connections will take precedence during this Full Moon, so don’t be surprised if you feel compelled to reach out to loved ones or those who are important to you during this time.

Venus in Taurus trines Pluto rx in Capricorn for the first time in 2017 on Saturday, June 24th. With the trine energy, these two planets will work together. Venus in Taurus is in essential dignity and at the height of her feminine and sexual expression. With a trine to Pluto, a planet notorious for the darker side of sexual pursuits, Venus is set up for some serious attraction and lust today, but know that any trysts that come of this trine may not necessarily stand the test of time, as Pluto loves to break things down in order to start something new. Enjoy the energy and sexual release if this transit finds you today. This is also a fantastic transit for business and leadership endeavors, just know that they may eventually morph into something very different from what they first started out as.

Moon Transits this Week:
  • Moon enters Taurus Monday, June 19th at 5:53pm EST
  • Moon enters Gemini Wednesday, June 21st at 6:44pm EST
  • Moon enters Cancer Friday, June 23rd at 6:07pm EST
