On Sunday, October 1st, Mars in Virgo makes a trine with Pluto in Capricorn at 7:36pm EST, turning ambition on high now that Pluto is direct. Mars in Virgo is inclined to act with more tact and politeness than usual, and when positively matched with Pluto’s deep internal power, things will get done effectively and efficiently.
On Tuesday, October 3rd, Venus in Virgo is next to form a trine with Pluto in Capricorn, although this is not as pleasant a trine as Sunday’s Mars/Pluto. A Venus/Pluto trine is bound to bring up secrets and hidden insecurities in relationships, which can be destructive if not managed properly. Luckily, a trine aspect has a more positive focus, and if you can overcome any new discoveries in your relationships, no matter how shocking, you stand a very good chance of establishing and/or maintaining deep and meaningful connections.
On Thursday, October 5th, Venus in Virgo meets up with Mars in Virgo at 12:53pm EST for the second time this year. This meetup normally results in sensual and even sexual expression and can be quite charming, but with Venus in Fall in Virgo and Mars acting more prudish than usual, this transit may not be as exciting as we’d hope. Instead of being demanding of your loved ones (usually a hallmark of this conjunction), try doing something nice for others today. After all, Virgo is the sign of servitude and effort. Kind deeds may pay off nicely. A Full Moon at 12°43’ Aries takes place today as well. This is the first Full Moon after the fall equinox, and will illuminate areas in which we need to take action and initiate change.
On Sunday, October 8th, Venus in Virgo squares Saturn in Sagittarius at 8:54am EST. This is the last Venus/Saturn square of the year, and with square aspects there are always challenges. Saturn urges us to take responsibility, which conflicts with Venus’s laissez-faire and laid back nature. Relationship challenges may come to a head today when one partner feels they are “doing more” than the other. The Sun in Libra will meet up with Mercury later in the day at 4:54pm EST, sending a lot of mental energy into the mix, which can cause undue stress or worry. Luckily, Mercury moves fast and is at its farthest point from Earth, helping us to process any relationship woes logically and objectively.
On Sunday, October 9th, the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Libra makes a square with Pluto in Capricorn, sending a tailspin of energy into our mental sphere. Thoughts will likely be deep and potentially confusing. This tri-planet aspect will urge you to question what is important and whether or not you are on the right path toward achieving it.
On Tuesday, October 10th, Jupiter enters Scorpio after spending the last 13 months in Libra. Jupiter is the planet of wisdom and knowledge seeking (vs. fact-seeking, which belongs to Mercury), and Scorpio is the sign of investigation and vicarious experience. Life’s deeper mysteries will be at question, and humanitarian issues likely on the rise with this sign change for Jupiter. Anyone whose chart is heavily Scorpio influenced will fare well with Jupiter, the greater benefic of the zodiac, in their corner. Happy investigating!
On Wednesday, October 11th, Mars in Virgo squares off with Saturn in Sagittarius at 9:37am EST, challenging leadership issues. These two planets last met in a square in January, which had the masses on high alert. Everyone will feel entitled and that they are right today, which is likely to cause a lot of conflict and frustration overall. This aspect has us feeling like our way is not just the best way, but the only way to climb to the top. Stay open minded today and try not to be a know-it-all if you don’t want to engage in the chaos.
On Saturday, October 14th, Venus enters Libra at 6:11am EST, where it is in rulership and the most pure in its expression. While we may feel more optimistic, attractive, and socially engaged with Venus in Libra, there is also the chance to sugar coat those aspects of your life that you don’t want others judging or questioning. Make note of this as you move through the course of Venus’s 4 week stay in its home of homes.
On Sunday, October 15th, Mercury in Libra opposes Uranus rx in Aries, sending high frequency vibes straight to our central nervous centers. You may feel like you have information overload today and can’t keep things straight, which makes sense given that Mercury is the fastest moving planet in the zodiac and Uranus is known for its erratic nature. Take this transit in stride, as its energy will pass over the course of two days. Make not of any universal downloads that may come to you, and keep track of them by writing them down, lest you forget the message before you have a chance.
Mercury rx and Mars meet up in Leo at 5:38am EST on Sunday, September 3rd. When Mars, our center for motivation, passion, and impulse, combines with Mercury rx, you may feel called to rethink a previous situation and perhaps even attempt to rectify or readdress its outcome. In Leo, we must recognize that we are solely responsible for our actions. This can be a great time for owning up and extending forgiveness, but don’t get sucked into the past trying to make it right. These planets will move quickly and their fused energy will only last a few days.
Tuesday, September 5th has quite a bit going on, starting with the Sun in Virgo opposing Neptune rx in Pisces at 1:28am EST. The heavy water influence of Neptune and Pisces combined slows the fiery and methodical Sun in Virgo way down. All day you may feel torn between languishing and indulging versus getting to work and taking care of business. Enjoy a little down time at some point because Mars moves into Virgo at 5:35am EST and Mercury goes direct shortly thereafter at 7:29am EST. Mars in Virgo will jumpstart any job or project if used wisely, but can also turn into a workaholic if not managed properly. With Mercury going direct, the green light is given for closing sales, making important contacts, and presenting information. Business endeavors will benefit greatly from this focused, inspired, and organized energy today.
The Sun in Virgo forms its last trine of 2017 with Pluto in Capricorn at 6:45am EST Saturday, September 9th. This transit can help illuminate and strengthen your sense of purpose and power, while pushing you to pursue long-time goals and bucket-list items. Mercury re-enters Virgo later in the day at 10:52pm EST, where it is quite at home and eager to assess, organize, and analyze. Use these two transits today to further brainstorming or implementing your plan.
Moon Transits this Week:
Eclipse season is upon us for approximately the next 36 days! While this may sound exciting, don’t get carried away. The only for sure with eclipses is that they express themselves rather erratically. Examining an eclipse’s date, time, and longitude is best done when being compared to an individual chart, being sure to note the house in which the eclipse is occurring within the chart. Typically, eclipses are known to trigger upsets—but whether these “upsets” are either good or bad, positive or negative (for lack of better terms), is usually clearer once the eclipse has passed. Taking a look at the house axis that is stressed by an eclipse in a natal chart is the best place to start, but by no means makes it absolutely clear how the energy will manifest.
The partial lunar eclipse on Monday, August 7th will occur at 15°25’ Aquarius in conjunction with the Full Moon at 11:11am EST. Because eclipses occur in series, typically with a lunar eclipse followed by a solar eclipse (then sometimes followed by another lunar eclipse), the partial lunar eclipse can be considered a precursor for the total solar eclipse that will occur in Leo on Monday, August 21st. While lunar eclipses are typically manifested on a more emotional an internal plane, solar eclipses tend to express themselves externally. Thus, in many cases, the internal motivations of the effects of a lunar eclipse precipitate the external results experienced during the solar eclipse. What makes eclipses significant is their proximity to the North and South Nodes, our centers for karma and energetic intake and output in this lifetime. With a partial or total eclipse, there is upset to these centers, as noted earlier. Remember that eclipses are most relevant when applied to the location in which they will take place in your individual chart.
Following Monday’s lunar eclipse, Venus in Cancer will trine Neptune in Pisces on Saturday, August 12th at 1:17am EST (10:17pm PST 8/10). Energy channels dealing with romantic, artistic, spiritual, and creative will be open for accessing this during this transit. Later in the day, Mercury goes retrograde in Virgo at 9:00pm EST. Mercury in Virgo loves to pay attention to the fine print, and during this retrograde period, that characteristic may become overblown. Take advantage of this time to lock down the details of your life and finances, but don’t become petty over the small stuff unless you want to stress until Mercury goes direct on September 5th.
Moon Transits this Week:
The Full Moon in Capricorn on Sunday the 9th at 12:07am EST compels us to examine areas where we need structure, and it gives us the drive and focus to get the ball rolling. Capricorn is a natural leader, but recognizes that it got to that position by paying dues and putting in work. Steep and treacherous terrain doesn’t deter the goat from climbing higher and higher. The Full Moon in Capricorn will illuminate areas where significant dedication is needed to grow. While the Moon struggles a little bit in dry, cool Capricorn, it’s not a completely foreign place. Luckily, earthy Capricorn has a watery side to it that manifests as passion and empathy. Be honest and exact with yourself this Full Moon, but do so compassionately.
The Sun and Pluto face off on Monday, July 10th at 12:35am EST. With these two powerhouse planets opposing one another, self-evaluation will run deep. You may be confronted with aspects of yourself that you’ve tried to ignore or suppress. Coming off its meet up with the Full Moon in Capricorn, Pluto is calling us to consider how we go about expressing our outgoing self (opposite the Sun) while keeping our inner emotions close to the vest (conjunct the Moon). The reality is that we cannot always be self-contained, even if we feel that we must be so in order to protect ourselves. Eventually our true natures will come to light, exposed by the Sun, and fueled by Pluto to change the way we relate to others and the world around us.
The remainder of this week is light on planetary activity, which provides a perfect buffer to implement the Full Moon and Pluto/Sun energy. Two minor transits occur on Friday, July 14th. Mercury in Leo finds itself inconjunct Neptune in Pisces at 2:19am EST. With a quincunx, or inconjunct aspect, the planets fail to see one another, as mathematically they are just out of sight of one another. The inconjunct between Mercury and Neptune today might create mixups with perspective, understanding, and delivery of messages. Mercury’s sextile to Jupiter in Libra at 4:46pm EST may add to exaggeration and blowing things out of proportion. The Sun quincunxes Saturn in Sagittarius at 2:29pm EST today as well. You may feel that you want to shirk off responsibility and let loose, especially if people have really been on your case lately. Go ahead and do so, and know that Sunday, July 16th will be a perfect day to make any necessary apologies when the Moon trines Mercury at 2:38am EST. ;)
Moon Transits this Week
Pluto in Capricorn takes the stage again this week, this time in opposition to Mars in Cancer on Sunday, July 2nd at 8:02am EST. Pluto’s energy is focused on deep, instinctual, and often painful, emotions that are related to the human experience, like grief, lust, power, protection—the emotions that we must experience in order to be shaped as individuals. Without the experiences that incite these emotions, we would never change, and therefore never evolve. Pluto’s energy is persistent and intense, and when in opposition to Mars, it can put pressure on our reactionary and defensive instincts. Think of Mars as your center of motivation, drive, and personal instinct. When confronted by Pluto, your Mars center will likely want to run or react in a big way because Pluto is notorious for inflicting pain, even if sometimes pain is necessary or even pleasurable. With this transit, you may be inexplicably drawn to things you know are no good for you, or even highly motivated to make serious changes to related to your behavior. Either way, with Mars in Cancer, expect to feel it to the core.
On Tuesday the 4th, Venus enters Gemini at 8:11pm. With physically focused Venus entering mentally-focused Gemini, flirting and personal expression, both verbally and aesthetically, will feel very easy over the next six weeks. Mercury in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries today as well at 8:51pm EST, which may make communication efforts impulsive and exciting if approached with some tact. Use these two transits to your benefit, particularly if you have some convincing or impressing to do.
Mercury moves into outgoing and gregarious Leo at 8:20pm EST. Mercury can really play the game in Leo and loves to take center stage. This energy will have us feeling confident and articulate, not to mention funny and charming. Shortly thereafter, the Sun makes a trine to Neptune in Pisces at 8:46pm EST and then a square to Jupiter in Libra at 10:44pm EST. This combination can result in feeling super inspired or super indulgent—perhaps both. Neptune embodies our spirituality and sense of the unknown, but sometimes with its energy we become lost instead of found. Jupiter always wants to do things bigger and better, so just make sure that your path is truly illuminated when these energies are at play.
The Full Moon in Capricorn on Sunday the 9th at 12:07am EST (Saturday July 8th for the west coast) illuminates areas where we need to cut the crap and get down to business. Not ironically, Pluto is conjunct the Moon today and at its side, urging us to dig into our emotional stores to see where we can learn and grow. With Capricorn, and therefore Saturn at the helm of this Full Moon, eyes should be on the prize. The Moon is in detriment in Capricorn, so it lacks sensitivity and empathy that it would usually have, which is exactly what this transit needs. As the Moon wanes, you may feel yourself dropping the dead weight.
Moon Transits this Week:
On Sunday, June 18th, Mercury in Gemini opposes Saturn rx in Sagittarius at 3:07pm EST. Decision making will be key over the next two days or so, and Saturn is demanding that you choose wisely. Don’t sweat this transit too much, since Mercury in Gemini is well-armed with facts and opinions, but it’s possible you might feel pigeonholed into having to choose between options you don’t like. The energy from this transit can be used to get things organized and grab ahold of your ambition, just be discerning about where you place your mental energy.
The Sun enters Cancer on Wednesday, June 21st at 12:24am EST. The Sun’s movement into cardinal Cancer marks the summer solstice in which the Sun is at its highest peak and will continue to decline until it enters Capricorn for the winter solstice in December. In Cancer, the Sun sheds light on our emotional well-being, home, and family life. It embodies the feminine divine that we all have, and it rules our intuitive sensing. Over the next month or so, you may feel emphasis that the Sun has in these aspects of your life depending on where Cancer falls in your natal chart.
Mercury is not too far behind the Sun, and changes from Gemini to Cancer shortly thereafter at 5:57am EST. Mercury is out of bounds at this point, high above the Sun’s orbit. In Gemini, it is able to look out objectively, but as it transitions into Cancer and embarks on its descent closer to the Sun’s orbit, communications become more instinctual and intuitive with a sense of urgency to get things done. Your gut responses may feel strong following this change of sign, so know that they are in tune with your inner energy.
A Full Moon in Cancer takes place Friday, June 23rd at 10:31pm EST. The Moon is the ruler of Cancer and therefore is in essential dignity. During this Full Moon phase, it is able to function to the best of its abilities. The Full Moon in Cancer instinctually sends us back to our home or a place where we feel secure and comforted. Those who are Cancer or water dominant may feel great pleasure in being a homebody and sprucing up their personal space. Emotional connections will take precedence during this Full Moon, so don’t be surprised if you feel compelled to reach out to loved ones or those who are important to you during this time.
Venus in Taurus trines Pluto rx in Capricorn for the first time in 2017 on Saturday, June 24th. With the trine energy, these two planets will work together. Venus in Taurus is in essential dignity and at the height of her feminine and sexual expression. With a trine to Pluto, a planet notorious for the darker side of sexual pursuits, Venus is set up for some serious attraction and lust today, but know that any trysts that come of this trine may not necessarily stand the test of time, as Pluto loves to break things down in order to start something new. Enjoy the energy and sexual release if this transit finds you today. This is also a fantastic transit for business and leadership endeavors, just know that they may eventually morph into something very different from what they first started out as.
Moon Transits this Week:
Mars enters Cancer on Sunday, June 4th at 12:16pm EST, heightening emotional awareness and tendencies to react instead of initiate. Fiery Mars is in Fall in watery, protective Cancer, so it is challenged to perform at its best. The take-no-prisoners attitude of Mars is watered down by this transit. While this can result in some softening of harder characteristics, it also can result in feeling insecure or weak. The upside is that Mars in Cancer also compels us to take care of business related to our homes and families. Don’t be surprised if over the next 6 weeks you embark on some home improvement projects or are extra involved with family activities.
Tuesday, June 6th is charged with super powerful and positive energy as Venus moves into its home in Taurus at 3:27am EST and Mercury moves into Gemini at 6:15pm EST. Both planets will be in essential dignity, so they are empowered to perform to the best of their abilities as long as you let them. Venus in Taurus helps facilitate smooth relationship interactions, business transactions, and positive self-image and self-esteem. Mercury in Gemini gets our mind running with sharp quips, quick decision-making skills, the ability to analyze, and smooth communication. The combined energies of these two planets in dignity complement one another quite well, so enjoy!
On Friday, June 9th the Full Moon in Gemini occurs at 9:10am EST. With malefic Saturn rx only about 5° from the Moon in Sagittarius, this Full Moon is bound to feel more intense and serious than usual. Luckily, Jupiter rx in Libra moves direct shortly after the Full Moon at 10:03am after about 4 months of being retrograde. This direct movement lays a blanket of positivity over the Moon and Saturn in Sagittarius since Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sag. Thus, realizations you have during this Full Moon period may be hard or uncomfortable lessons to learn, but coming out of them you have the ability that they are for your betterment.
Moon Transits this Week:
Sunday, May 7th
The Moon in Libra trines Mars in Gemini at 11:56am EST. Mars in Gemini is fueled by a Mercury-like energy that will enable you to complete your familial obligations, as well as make time for getting together with friends. The Moon passes over Jupiter in Libra at 7:01pm EST, making today a great day in general for getting together with friends or enjoying company in your home.
Monday, May 8th
The Moon in Libra squares Pluto rx in Capricorn at 3:56am EST and opposes Uranus in Aries at 4:47pm EST, posing some challenges for working with others. The Moon/Pluto square may result in power struggle issues, with the Moon inclined to look on the bright side of things and Pluto wanting to get down to business. This power struggle is most likely to take place internally vs. externally. You may feel as though you have to sacrifice amenities today just to get the job done. Uranus in Aries is likely to mix things up just when you feel that you’ve gotten a grasp of them, so be prepared to embrace the unexpected, particularly when it comes to relationships.
Tuesday, May 9th
The Moon enters Scorpio today at 1:01am EST, gearing up for tomorrow’s full Moon. The Sun in Taurus trines Pluto rx in Capricorn at 2:24pm EST, one of only two trines between these planets in 2017. This transit should have us feeling empowered and in control, with both planets in harmony in stable earth signs.
Wednesday, May 10th
Mercury in Aries passes over Uranus in Aries at 1:20am EST. This is the third and last meetup between these planets this year. This transit should be the easiest to deal with, not only because we’ve now experienced two Mercury/Uranus conjunctions, but also because Mercury is now direct for this last transit. The urge to fire off at the mouth or verbalize your wildest ideas will be present, but perhaps more developed. Sometimes your craziest ideas are your best ideas, so see where they take you. The Full Moon in Scorpio happens today at 5:42pm EST, illuminating the path and bringing to light hidden aspects or circumstances we should consider.
Thursday, May 11th
The Moon moves into Sagittarius today at 12:59pm EST, and later Mars in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces at 1:52pm EST. The Mars/Neptune square may bring up hidden or secret issues that we need to continue to address following the full Moon and up to two weeks thereafter. This transit is also prone to impulse and reaction, often times giving us the impression that we should pursue or respond to something that may not be exactly as it appears. Try to avoid the wild goose chase that this square might throw at you.
Friday, May 12th
Luckily the Mars/Neptune uncertainty takes a turn for the better when Mars in Gemini trines Jupiter rx in Libra at 6:19am EST. This transit will take the edge off and any suspicion you may have been experiencing should be assuaged. This transit is particularly good for self-esteem, and you will likely feel quite confident in your decisions and actions today.
Saturday, May 13th
The Moon in Sagittarius passes over Saturn rx in Sagittarius at 6:56pm EST. This transit will bring our spiritual and familial obligations to light, and may ask us to reconsider how we have been approaching these obligations. Is there room to improve or streamline? This concept may be on your mind today.
Sunday, April 9th
Mercury takes its hand at going retrograde today at 7:14pm EST, adding to the retrograde party already being attended by Venus and Saturn. When Mercury goes retrograde, communication gaps often present themselves in the form of travel disruptions, failed contracts, and general misinterpretations. Mercury is forced to slow down during this period, which is not exactly its comfort zone. This can result in deeper conversations and more time spent evaluating information as opposed to jumping to conclusions or the next best thing (true to mercurial fashion). With a trio of retrograde planets in the mix, sensitivities in general may be heightened, and we may become more aware of things we were not focused on before.
Monday, April 10th
The Moon joins Jupiter today at 6:58pm, opening spiritual pathways from which we can grow and discover new wisdom through experience. The meetup of these two planets can sometimes lend to sugarcoating circumstances. Jupiter is the planet of wisdom, and with Mercury being retrograde, be aware of how your words, however short or exaggerated, might play into how far you take your emotional expression. Are you walking the walk or just talking the talk?
Tuesday, April 11th
The Full Moon in Libra is at her peak at 2:08am EST, illuminating the shadows we’ve been hiding from, but also the fruits of our labor. This Full Moon’s emphasis is on change through challenges, with Uranus being only 2° from the Sun and more or less opposing the Moon. Uranus’s influence stresses progressive action, so creative and possibly erratic influences and ideas will be flowing with no obstruction. The Moon enters Scorpio later in the day at 6:42pm EST, adding to the probing and pondering that the Full Moon has initiated.
Wednesday, April 12th
The Moon in Scorpio opposes Mercury rx in Taurus at 3:40am EST, which may prove for a difficult or challenging day. The two fastests bodies of the zodiac are in two fixed signs, and with Mercury being retrograde, this recipe can be quite difficult. Stop and go is the theme for today. The Moon trines Neptune in Pisces later at 8:48pm EST, which may take the edge off of the stress and anxiety of the day.
Thursday, April 13th
The Moon in Scorpio is opposite Mars in Taurus at 8:04pm EST, which calls for another rocky day, and this time emotionally. Emotional outbursts or I’ve-had-it moments may surface today, especially since Venus, the dispositor of Mars in Taurus, is still retrograde and conjunct Chiron in Pisces, another emotionally-influenced planetary body and sign.
Friday, April 14th
The Sun and Uranus meet up for their yearly encounter at 1:30am EST, potentially adding to the chaos of the past several days. Change may feel afoot, which is both exciting and scary. This is the vibe that the merging of these two bodies will create. The Moon enters Sagittarius today at 6:27am EST, calling us to act upon personal wisdom and justice.
Saturday, April 15th
Venus goes direct today at 6:18am EST! Anyone affected by emotional or romantic hardship will be relieved to know that Venus is back to her regular self. Her impact extends to Mercury, Mars (both in Taurus), and Jupiter (in Libra), creating more fluid energy flow to and from those planets. You may notice blockages lift in areas where your personal chart is affected, and there will also be a sense of overall well-being and creativity today as Venus gets her groove back.
It facilitates work on any project and makes sense of any problem as long as all possible details have been uncovered. Virgo is an earth sign, and therefore typically does well managing resources. It represents areas in which we are not necessarily coming up with the bright ideas, but we’re instead tasked with executing them, notably with an emphasis on perfection. Virgo is the virgin—pure and good, but also somewhat naive. It represents areas in our lives where we feel that everyone should get on our level, yet that is ever rarely the case.
This Full Moon in Virgo may feel like a slap in the face for those of us who are brought to the stark reality of our shortcomings. Being cold and dry, Virgo is one of the barren signs of the zodiac. With the Moon, our emotional core, being fully illuminated in Virgo, a factual and abrupt sign, there is little soothing or comforting to be felt when presented with reality. Note that the Moon is more powerful at night in Virgo because it is the nighttime triplicity ruler of the sign; therefore, it is more comfortable when able to discretely operate in the shadows without fear of criticism. Thus, you may encounter more will and motivation to work on your projects (personal, work, or otherwise) at night or in isolation during this period.
Notice that Virgo’s ruler Mercury is both in detriment and fall in Pisces, currently opposite the Moon at 27°. With the dispositor stressed and challenged, any planet in Virgo right now must listen carefully to the messages it receives so as not to misinterpret or misconstrue facts. Additionally, Pluto is in Capricorn, trine the Moon and opposite Cancer, the Moon’s native home, so there’s bound to be powerful changes and transformations attached to this Full Moon in Virgo. This is sharp energy that will likely feel confrontational, but also inspirational in that doors will seem open and options available due to the mutable nature of Virgo.
Furthermore, the Moon is also opposite Chiron which is currently conjunct the Sun in Pisces. Thus, the Moon is pulling on Chiron’s energy, which harbors areas of our lives in which we’re perpetually wounded or plagued. So close to the Sun at the present moment, this may be a common theme for recent dealings and experiences you’ve been having.
Gut feelings are important during and around this transit, as Virgo rules the lower abdomen and intestines and the Moon our stomachs. Pay attention to your physical and mental reactions during this Full Moon in Virgo. Good luck!
