Eclipse season is upon us for approximately the next 36 days! While this may sound exciting, don’t get carried away. The only for sure with eclipses is that they express themselves rather erratically. Examining an eclipse’s date, time, and longitude is best done when being compared to an individual chart, being sure to note the house in which the eclipse is occurring within the chart. Typically, eclipses are known to trigger upsets—but whether these “upsets” are either good or bad, positive or negative (for lack of better terms), is usually clearer once the eclipse has passed. Taking a look at the house axis that is stressed by an eclipse in a natal chart is the best place to start, but by no means makes it absolutely clear how the energy will manifest.
The partial lunar eclipse on Monday, August 7th will occur at 15°25’ Aquarius in conjunction with the Full Moon at 11:11am EST. Because eclipses occur in series, typically with a lunar eclipse followed by a solar eclipse (then sometimes followed by another lunar eclipse), the partial lunar eclipse can be considered a precursor for the total solar eclipse that will occur in Leo on Monday, August 21st. While lunar eclipses are typically manifested on a more emotional an internal plane, solar eclipses tend to express themselves externally. Thus, in many cases, the internal motivations of the effects of a lunar eclipse precipitate the external results experienced during the solar eclipse. What makes eclipses significant is their proximity to the North and South Nodes, our centers for karma and energetic intake and output in this lifetime. With a partial or total eclipse, there is upset to these centers, as noted earlier. Remember that eclipses are most relevant when applied to the location in which they will take place in your individual chart. Following Monday’s lunar eclipse, Venus in Cancer will trine Neptune in Pisces on Saturday, August 12th at 1:17am EST (10:17pm PST 8/10). Energy channels dealing with romantic, artistic, spiritual, and creative will be open for accessing this during this transit. Later in the day, Mercury goes retrograde in Virgo at 9:00pm EST. Mercury in Virgo loves to pay attention to the fine print, and during this retrograde period, that characteristic may become overblown. Take advantage of this time to lock down the details of your life and finances, but don’t become petty over the small stuff unless you want to stress until Mercury goes direct on September 5th.
