Venus enters Cancer on Monday, July 31st at 10:54am EST. This receptive planet and sign combination sends waves of sensitive energy until the end of August. Venus represents our sense of self-esteem, aesthetic standards, sense of affection, social urges, and source of money. When in Cancer, Venus is sensitive, intuitive, sympathetic, security-seeking, and instinctually charming. A skilled Venus in Cancer is nurturing, encouraging, and creative, while an unskilled Venus in Cancer can be defensive, defeatist, and even martyristic. How will you use this energy over the next month?
Uranus in Aries moves retrograde on Thursday, August 3rd at 1:31am EST (10:31pm PST on August 2nd). Uranus is considered the “awakener” of the planets, and when it moves retrograde, we experience internal realizations that shed light on our ways of being. Uranus rx in Aries is asking us to awaken to our natural and instinctive selves, and to exert ourselves in ways that make us stand out as unique from our surroundings. We are also urged to break away from internal constructs and stories that confine us. Uranus will remain retrograde until early January 2018, so we have the remainder of the year to work on liberating ourselves from the constant and limiting tapes that we allow to control us. Jupiter in Libra squares Pluto rx in Capricorn on Friday, August 4th at 2:48pm EST. This is the second square-off between these two planets this year (they last met on March 30th), which marks major shifts in self-control and personal development, for better or worse. When these two planets last met, Jupiter was retrograde in Libra while Pluto was direct in Capricorn—now the opposite is the case, with Jupiter direct in Libra and Pluto rx in Capricorn. This transit sheds light on where we should exert self-control in order to achieve positive results. If not managed appropriately, this transit can also result in sloppy and domineering behavior. Jupiter is often shy about managing the details of things, while Pluto uses the details to empower. This transit asks you to integrate these energies for the greater good, particularly in our external relationships and business dealings. Moon Transits this Week:

A New Moon in Leo greets us the morning of Sunday, July 23rd at 5:46am EST. This New Moon is taking place at 0° Leo, a transitional but fixed point in the zodiac. Mars is only 1° away from this New Moon, which will provide a burst of motivation and initiation to this fixed energy. While Mars can add a significant source of inspiration to this New Moon, Mars in Leo can also lean toward impatience, vanity, and selfishness. If you’re using the New Moon to plan for upcoming ventures, know that while you may feel lit up and on fire during this time, don’t burn yourself out or run others ragged with demands. Ego checking is sure to be a main theme of this New Moon phase.
On Monday, July 24th, Venus in Gemini and Saturn rx in Sagittarius find themselves opposite one another at 10:54am EST. Cold and dry Saturn has a serious effect on receptive and sensitive Venus, highlighting areas in our lives in which we might need to work a little harder and rely less on our personal charms in order to get ahead. You may be called to use a larger source of wisdom (Saturn in Sag) to harness Venus’s scattered priorities in Gemini. This transit is telling us to hunker down and get our act together, and this planetary pressure is likely to create great creative output if used skillfully. Later in this day, Mercury in Leo makes a trine to Uranus in Aries at 12:33pm EST, urging us to think creatively and consider avenues that might otherwise not seem appealing. Mercury enters Virgo on Tuesday, July 25th at 7:41pm EST. Detail- and fact-oriented Mercury is in dignity in Virgo, where is excels at digesting the finer points and small details. Consider Virgo the data analyst and quality control center of the zodiac. This transit sheds a no-nonsense light on information that is presented to us, and we might feel hypercritical or analytical during this time frame. While cold and dry Virgo can sometimes be a buzzkill because it’s so factual and realistic, there is also great possibility to use your factual knowledge creatively and playfully with Mercury in this sign. Mercury will be in Virgo until September, since it will move retrograde in mid-August, thus extending its stay in its domain. The Sun makes an exact encounter with Mars on Wednesday, July 26th at 8:57pm EST. This is a powerful and fiery conjunction that gives us the self-esteem boost we need to get things done. The next 24 hours is a great period to use your personal strengths to initiate a project, communicate your opinion, and take things by the reins. Moon Transits this Week:
Monday, July 17th will be an intensely emotional day with two major squares taking place. Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces in the morning at 10:33am EST, which might make us feel a little emotionally vulnerable and confused. This transit can make us take the small things and totally over-analyze or blow them out of proportion. Our sense of values may be called to question, and we might realize that material possessions are not fulfilling us in the way that we expect them to. This square will have us yearning for the meaning of things.
Later in the day on Monday, Mars in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries at 9:27pm EST. These two planets are known for being unpredictable, and when they square off, anything is possible. A word of advice and caution: slow down! This is accident prone energy, so you must proceed with the logical mind and an open heart, and not the reactionary ego. Luckily, this right-brained energy is at our disposal when Mercury in Leo trines Saturn rx in Sagittarius the following day, Wednesday, July 19th, at 3:16pm EST. Logic, reason, and diplomacy are facilitated here, and with Mercury in Leo, our delivery will be impeccable. This is the last of four Mercury/Saturn trines in 2017, so use its energy wisely! Mars enters Leo on Thursday, July 20th at 8:19am EST where it functions quite well. With Mars in Leo, our competitive and instinctual natures are fired up and we’re full of inspiration and ambition. Mars can really get into itself here, so watch for any demanding or self-absorbed behavior, but otherwise enjoy this energetic recharge. The Sun in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries later today at 8:26pm EST, compounding the frenetic energy and excitement. On Saturday, July 22nd, the Sun enters Leo at 11:15am EST. The Sun is in rulership in Leo, and our true natures take center stage. This is a transit charged with self-confidence, charm, and vivacity. Ever notice that many Leo personalities are larger than life? This is because the Sun is fully charged in Leo and can’t be stopped from shining bright. Party vibes with the Sun in Leo are high, but Leo can be prone to being pushy to get its way, resulting in upsets or spats. Let a Leo know you love ‘em today—they live for that! The Full Moon in Capricorn on Sunday the 9th at 12:07am EST compels us to examine areas where we need structure, and it gives us the drive and focus to get the ball rolling. Capricorn is a natural leader, but recognizes that it got to that position by paying dues and putting in work. Steep and treacherous terrain doesn’t deter the goat from climbing higher and higher. The Full Moon in Capricorn will illuminate areas where significant dedication is needed to grow. While the Moon struggles a little bit in dry, cool Capricorn, it’s not a completely foreign place. Luckily, earthy Capricorn has a watery side to it that manifests as passion and empathy. Be honest and exact with yourself this Full Moon, but do so compassionately.
The Sun and Pluto face off on Monday, July 10th at 12:35am EST. With these two powerhouse planets opposing one another, self-evaluation will run deep. You may be confronted with aspects of yourself that you’ve tried to ignore or suppress. Coming off its meet up with the Full Moon in Capricorn, Pluto is calling us to consider how we go about expressing our outgoing self (opposite the Sun) while keeping our inner emotions close to the vest (conjunct the Moon). The reality is that we cannot always be self-contained, even if we feel that we must be so in order to protect ourselves. Eventually our true natures will come to light, exposed by the Sun, and fueled by Pluto to change the way we relate to others and the world around us. The remainder of this week is light on planetary activity, which provides a perfect buffer to implement the Full Moon and Pluto/Sun energy. Two minor transits occur on Friday, July 14th. Mercury in Leo finds itself inconjunct Neptune in Pisces at 2:19am EST. With a quincunx, or inconjunct aspect, the planets fail to see one another, as mathematically they are just out of sight of one another. The inconjunct between Mercury and Neptune today might create mixups with perspective, understanding, and delivery of messages. Mercury’s sextile to Jupiter in Libra at 4:46pm EST may add to exaggeration and blowing things out of proportion. The Sun quincunxes Saturn in Sagittarius at 2:29pm EST today as well. You may feel that you want to shirk off responsibility and let loose, especially if people have really been on your case lately. Go ahead and do so, and know that Sunday, July 16th will be a perfect day to make any necessary apologies when the Moon trines Mercury at 2:38am EST. ;) Moon Transits this Week
Pluto in Capricorn takes the stage again this week, this time in opposition to Mars in Cancer on Sunday, July 2nd at 8:02am EST. Pluto’s energy is focused on deep, instinctual, and often painful, emotions that are related to the human experience, like grief, lust, power, protection—the emotions that we must experience in order to be shaped as individuals. Without the experiences that incite these emotions, we would never change, and therefore never evolve. Pluto’s energy is persistent and intense, and when in opposition to Mars, it can put pressure on our reactionary and defensive instincts. Think of Mars as your center of motivation, drive, and personal instinct. When confronted by Pluto, your Mars center will likely want to run or react in a big way because Pluto is notorious for inflicting pain, even if sometimes pain is necessary or even pleasurable. With this transit, you may be inexplicably drawn to things you know are no good for you, or even highly motivated to make serious changes to related to your behavior. Either way, with Mars in Cancer, expect to feel it to the core.
On Tuesday the 4th, Venus enters Gemini at 8:11pm. With physically focused Venus entering mentally-focused Gemini, flirting and personal expression, both verbally and aesthetically, will feel very easy over the next six weeks. Mercury in Cancer squares Uranus in Aries today as well at 8:51pm EST, which may make communication efforts impulsive and exciting if approached with some tact. Use these two transits to your benefit, particularly if you have some convincing or impressing to do. Mercury moves into outgoing and gregarious Leo at 8:20pm EST. Mercury can really play the game in Leo and loves to take center stage. This energy will have us feeling confident and articulate, not to mention funny and charming. Shortly thereafter, the Sun makes a trine to Neptune in Pisces at 8:46pm EST and then a square to Jupiter in Libra at 10:44pm EST. This combination can result in feeling super inspired or super indulgent—perhaps both. Neptune embodies our spirituality and sense of the unknown, but sometimes with its energy we become lost instead of found. Jupiter always wants to do things bigger and better, so just make sure that your path is truly illuminated when these energies are at play. The Full Moon in Capricorn on Sunday the 9th at 12:07am EST (Saturday July 8th for the west coast) illuminates areas where we need to cut the crap and get down to business. Not ironically, Pluto is conjunct the Moon today and at its side, urging us to dig into our emotional stores to see where we can learn and grow. With Capricorn, and therefore Saturn at the helm of this Full Moon, eyes should be on the prize. The Moon is in detriment in Capricorn, so it lacks sensitivity and empathy that it would usually have, which is exactly what this transit needs. As the Moon wanes, you may feel yourself dropping the dead weight. Moon Transits this Week:
